Best Bars in Melbourne: Cool Tips on the Hottest Spots

Sydney may have the Bridge and the beaches, Brisbane may have the balmy weather, but when it comes to having a good time, Melbourne takes the cake. Packed full of unique and interesting bars, Melbourne offers something for everyone. whether you’re into a glamorous night out, a grungy, edgy bar or somewhere to see some fantastic live music, and the choice is so plentiful that you could go to a different place every night of the week and not have exhausted your options in a year! Here is a guide to three different nights out in Melbourne, three different ways!

Bohemian Chill out Spots

In terms of bohemian, quirky hang-outs with a bit of a twist, you absolutely cannot go past Madame Brussels’ on Burke St. Located on a rooftop patio the bar/cafe/public house channels the dandy, kitsch themes of the 50s and 60s, with friendly staff dressed in tennis outfits, complementary parasols when it is very sunny and snuggly soft blankets when it’s chilly. The menu features decadent heated-cocktails in winter (they come in adorable little teapots replete with tea-cosies) and pimms cocktails in those warmer months. You can nibble on house-made cupcakes or sausage rolls and watch the panorama of Melbourne’s city skyline. Very cute.

Bimbo Deluxe

For a slightly more edgy, grungy night out, head to Bimbo Deluxe in Brunswick St. You can;t miss it (there’s a giant baby-doll strapped high to the outside roof) and once inside you’ll be transported back to the mid-nineties. Kurt Cobain would not look out of place here (well, maybe because he’s dead, but you know what I mean) and there is an impressive array of infused vodkas to choose from. Serving yummy goodies like pizza and featuring a surprisingly serene and beautiful rooftop patio, Bimbo deluxe is a guaranteed good night out.

Sorry Grandma!

Firstly, one of the coolest names for a nightclub–ever! This party-palace is the real deal, with a real onus on partying the night aways. According to Melbourne Bars.com:

Michael Delaney and Co have taken the helm of a two-storey, double-dance-floored late-opener with the promise of a late night indeed should your stamina hold out. Cocktails don’t just come in glasses, they come in litres, and all at reasonable prices. The focus here is on dancing rather than lounging, so don’t expect too many couches – grab a drink and hit that floor.

Melbourne bars and nightclubs definitely do not disappoint. This hub of music, art, culture and fashion has some pretty impressive people, and when they all get together to have a good time…yo can be guaranteed that you will too!
